The Fire TV Stick is Amazon’s own streaming device, so most of the time it registers to Prime Video automatically. But if you bought a used stick, factory reset the device, or switched Amazon accounts, you will need amazon.com/mytv to link it again.

When you need amazon.com/mytv on Fire TV Stick

You will see the 6-digit code screen if:
  • You purchased the Fire TV Stick separately from your Amazon account.
  • You performed a factory reset from Settings > My Fire TV.
  • You are gifting or reselling the device.
  • Your Amazon password was recently changed.

Activate a Fire TV Stick with amazon.com/mytv

1

Plug in the Fire TV Stick

Connect it to a free HDMI port and power it with the included adapter. Wired power works better than USB from the TV.
2

Follow the on-screen setup

Pair the remote, choose your language, and connect to Wi-Fi. When prompted, choose Register your device.
3

Copy the 6-digit code

Fire TV shows a code and asks you to visit amazon.com/mytv on another device.
4

Enter the code at amazon.com/mytv

On your phone go to amazon.com/mytv, sign in, type the code, and click Register.
5

Finish setup on the TV

The Fire TV Stick refreshes and lands on the home screen with your Prime Video library ready to stream.
Never share your amazon.com/mytv code with strangers. Anyone who types it in can link your Prime account to their device.

Fire TV Stick troubleshooting

  • Remote not pairing: hold Home for 10 seconds, then repeat amazon.com/mytv registration.
  • Wi-Fi drops during activation: move the stick closer to the router or use an Ethernet adapter.
  • Stuck on the code screen: press the Home button, restart the stick, and revisit amazon.com/mytv with a new code.
